The Retirement of a Legend

Jean Blok has been a pilar in the Hillspring family with an earned nickname of “Mama Jean” by both volunteers and kids in the After School Matters program that Hillspring created for Eastgate Elementary in East Kennewick. Students who aged out of the elementary school program came back as volunteers to stay connected. Jean gave rides to students, visited them through life changes and troubles and became close with the families. With multiple factors playing a part, Jean had decided to retire and spend time with her family who are spread from here in Washington across to the Midwest. On Tuesday, May, 20th Hillspring and Jean joined for one of the last After School Matters meetings of the year and celebrated the legend’s retirement all together. Cake was served, kind words were shared and hugs were given in abundance. We, at Hillspring thank “Mama Jean” for her comitment to her ministry and her loving heart.
