Welcome Steve Lewis

Renee and I are excited about the next chapter in our ministry adventure. We had thought, and perhaps hoped that big adventures would be more behind us than ahead of us; however, we have learned that God does have a sense of humor.

Renee and I have been blessed with two children and three grandchildren. One family dwells in Los Angeles and the other in Marysville, Washington. Like other grandparents, we too went crazy and have not recovered.

My journey in ministry started at age 18 when I felt a call into ministry; although I was not exactly sure of what direction it would take. While in my second year of college, it was clear that my call would be focused on academics and exploring the church and its connection to culture. I did work in and with congregations as I navigated four degrees required to become a professor. I have greatly enjoyed teaching and it remains my primary identity and passion to help others explore their faith.

My passion has always been rooted in exploring the “mysteries of God”.  I have spent my life dedicated to being a student of the mysteries of God. I am a perpetual student who is blessed on occasions to be a teacher. My philosophy of ministry is simple: listen for the voice of God and respond to what you hear. Help others as much as possible. Believe you can change the world and you will. And finally, God is always present through the Holy Spirit who is moving in, around and through us.

I am excited to get to know the Hillspring family a lot more and determine ways in which we can work together. There are many adventures to have, mysteries to explore and lives to touch as we learn, love and grow as a community of faith, while living out the gospel in the community.

Blessings,

Steve Lewis
