Faithful God

I can't seem to write these articles without talking about music or a song that is resonating with me. In October of last year, one of my favorite bands, I AM THEY, put out a new album with a song titled "Faithful God." I mean, great title for a song!

The song speaks of the struggle we have all felt at one time or another this year. This feeling of being surrounded on every side to the point we can't see the light of day. It speaks of being in the midst of a storm and still knowing God is good even when we can't see.

That's the hardest thing. Remembering that God is good all the time. Even when we don't know what will happen next, and we can't see if the ground beneath us is stable. Most of the time, when we go through hardships in our lives, there are people there to help pick us up and carry us through. It's the beautiful ebb and flow of relationships. When I'm in the trenches, my family and friends are there to lift me up and vice versa. But this year, we are all in the thick of it together. That can only mean one thing.

We need to lock arms (theoretically), get on our knees, and send our eyes and prayers up to the God who is in control even though we are in the midst of a storm. Remember, we are in this together. We are not alone. We have each other. More importantly, God is still in control.

I love the words in Hebrews 10:23:

"Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful."

What has God promised us?

Strength when we are weary (Isaiah 40:29)

To be with us (Deuteronomy 31:8)

Peace beyond comprehension (Philippians 4:6-7)

To teach and counsel us (Psalm 32:8)

Abundant life (John 10:10)

To be faithful (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

Unfailing love (1 Chronicles 16:34)

To care for us (Matthew 6:26)

He would hold onto us (Psalm 37:23-24)

He will fight for us (Exodus 14:14)

He has overcome it all (John 16:33)

The list goes on and on. There is nothing God cannot do, and there is nothing He has promised that He has failed to live up to. This world may be upside down today, but we can rest in the assurances that our God holds this whole world in His hands.

No matter what is going around you, know that you are not alone. Not only is God right there with you on the good days and the not-so-great ones, but so is your Hillspring family. We are better and stronger together than we are apart.

I know we've had to get creative to stay connected, but today I encourage you to reach out to one person you hold dear or who God puts in your mind each day. We are all in this thing called "life" together. Let's lift each other up in word, deed, and prayer. Being the hands and feet of Christ doesn't have to be a mountain-moving gesture. Merely reminding someone they are loved and valued can change a person's entire day or week.

I'll leave you with the chorus of this amazing song that I can't get enough of:

I will sing through fire and thunder

'Cause You are on my side

I trust You with my life

I know my story it isn't over

Even against all odds

You are a faithful God

He is faithful. Go share who He is with the world by shining the light you have within you.

Go be a blessing,
